***UPDATE***

We can now confirm the full line-up for the Great Tastes of the World 2015 promotion. Although we can’t confirm which weeks each burger will feature we do know week one will be the Australian BBQ Supreme.

Also returning will be the South African Deluxe which we reviewed in September 2013.

Completing the line-up we only have the code-names at the moment for THREE new burgers which will be The Italian, The Brazilian and the Canadian.

We said a chicken option would run the entire 6 weeks and our prayers have been answered with the return of the Chicken & Chutney Indian. This hasn’t been on the menu since November 2012. Review HERE.

Also keep a look out for the Triple Caramel McFlurry, Mozzarella Dippers with Salsa Dip and Vanilla Latte.

As you can see from our predictions below we were once again very close!

More information and pictures when we get them! You heard it here first yet again…!

Great Tastes of the World

Great Tastes of the World soon returns to McDonald’s for the first time since 2013. We’re going to look at some of the potential burgers that could be included in the 2015 line-up.

Our experience tells us that it should feature five different beef burgers and similar to Great Tastes of America will have a chicken option running alongside for the entire duration.

So will we see a complete new batch of limited time offers or will we see one or two returning favourites? And which countries will be in this years’ “League of Burgers”.

Great Tastes of the World
McDonald’s Great Tastes of the World returning soon…

Below are some of the burgers that could feature…

Mexico – Mexican Fiesta – we reviewed this in 2013 and you can read about it HERE.

Featuring Nachos, Guacamole and Salsa Sauce this is a real contender to return in 2015. Would be nice to see a version of this with jalapeños on.

Italy – McPizza Pepperoni Burger – eventual winner of the My Burger competition and very, very popular on Twitter.

MM even had two in one day it was THAT good. We were very favourable in our review and we reckon it’ll be an odds-on favourite for the promotion. If this does return to restaurants we’re predicting a slight ingredient change and possible re-naming.

Spain – Spanish Grande – a taste of the Mediterranean released in 2012 and 2013.

Chorizo, roasted red and yellow peppers with a bravas-style sauce could see a return to the McDonald’s menu this year. You can read our analysis HERE.

Japan – Mega Teriyaki – A Big Mac style burger using sausage patties and seasoned with teriyaki sauce. We’ve pitched the idea of having true “guest burgers” from around the world to both McD’s and BK but if I was a betting man I wouldn’t be putting any money on this one!

Brazil – The Brazilian – released during the 2014 World Cup the Australian version had a patty which melded beef with beans, corn and peppers and featured fire-roasted pepper sauce.

We don’t see that version being popular with the Big Tasty crowd so maybe a variant to offer a taste of the carnival country.

Australia – Australian BBQ Supreme. We reviewed this in 2013 and when thinking about these 5-week promotions you instantly think of one having BBQ sauce.

Considering the BBQ Smokehouse has also featured barbecue maybe this year will buck the trend.

Singapore – in 2014 McDonald’s Singapore did The Spicy Challenge consisting of four burgers with four levels of spice. Sizzling Citrus, McSpicy (very common in the Far East), Flaming Green Curry and Fiery Mala completed the spicy line-up.

Considering people got burnt by the Sweet Chilli Fiesta I think we’re more likely to see level one than level four in the UK.

Canada – I can’t pick a specific burger for this one.

Recently they had the Great Canadian Taste Adventure but don’t expect McLobster to be appearing on your High Street anytime soon.

With the BBQ Smokehouse having maple-cured bacon on it (ours didn’t) this could be a good reason to re-use stock ingredients and quite possibly be available in week one.

France – imagine a proper French-inspired burger. You could have some grilled garlic onions, mushrooms and a bourguignon-style or black pepper sauce. Probably more chance of McDonald’s serving beer over here than seeing this on the menu.

McDonald's Taiwan Great Tastes of Europe
McDonald’s Taiwan Great Tastes of Europe…

Portugal – I still cannot fathom why McDonald’s has not capitalised on the Peri-Peri craze and released a cheeky Peri-Peri chicken burger.

Especially when they have recently started using Peri-Peri on their snack wrap. This could be very popular and maybe even beat the spice levels seen in the Hot & Spicy Buffalo BBQ Chicken.

China – Oriental McRib – the McRib made its long-awaited 12-year return to the UK at the start of 2015. Many years ago, there was an Oriental version which ran alongside the Disney Mulan movie. A definite outsider but we reckon it would fly out that drive-thru window.

India – Chicken & Chutney Indian. Please, please, P-L-E-A-S-E let this be the chicken option this year!

A fledgling Burger Lad® website reviewed this way back in November 2012. With shredded lettuce, onions, spiced onion chutney and a yogurt and mint mayo I’d make an exception and re-visit this review for one of my favourite McDonald’s burgers ever.

Japan – yes we know we’ve mentioned Japan already but I’m watching Fast Food Gone Global for inspiration.

How about a variation of the Filet-o-Fish they have had in Japan like the Wasabi Fish Sandwich? Or the Ebi Burger which is bursting with baby Shrimp/Prawn? You could even have the most popular Shaker Shaker Fries seasoning in that country to accompany it – Seaweed.

Well, we hope you have enjoyed our prediction list. In fact we’ve just listed so many that if we are correct on any of them we can shout “called it” when the promotion starts.

Or maybe we know already and have put one or two red herrings in there. We’ll find out soon. Stay tuned for further updates!
