McDonald’s Spicy Sriracha Chicken One

McDonald’s Spicy Sriracha Chicken One Review

Price: £4.19/£5.89/£6.49.

Calories: 432 kcal.

Available until Tuesday 14th February, the Spicy Sriracha Chicken One (wrap) is currently on the menu at McDonald’s UK.

As with the other wraps, this is available in Crispy or Grilled options (still never had a grilled wrap) and is Wrap of the Day (£1.99) on a Wednesday.

That’s lucky. Today is Wednesday. I didn’t even plan this…

Spicy Sriracha Chicken One

I was going to accompany the Spicy Sriracha Chicken One with the new Double McPlant – strictly for review purposes only!!

But… I do like to concentrate on one menu item at a time and also when in the My McDonald’s app, I noticed an offer available to me (think it is a birthday offer) for a £1.29 Big Mac.

£1.29 Big Mac + £1.99 Wrap of the Day = happy Burger. Oh Trish.

Spicy Sriracha Chicken One

In previous reviews, I have stated that “wraps are not very photogenic” and this new wrap is no exception… I’ve done the best I can with the images.

I’m a big fan of spicy food/hot sauce and my all-time favourite McDonald’s wrap was the Hot Peri Peri Chicken One.

Since that absolute classic, we’ve also been treated to Fiery Buffalo, Hot Cajun and Fajita Chicken iterations of the Big Flavour Wraps.

Now Sriracha joins the party.

Sriracha. One could argue this was all the fashion back in say 2016 [citation needed].

So are McDonald’s too late to the aforementioned party or have they waited long enough for it to become “mainstream” and people know what it is now?

Priced at approximately £4 depending on where you live, I would not pay that for this wrap. £2 yes. Easy. No problemo. Four quid though would be a no from me.

Nice vibrant looking red sauce – not too spicy, not too tame. Just hits the mark with a faint glow.

For me, it didn’t taste like that unique Flying Goose brand bottled Sriracha which is the most famous version [citation needed] of this chilli sauce. I wasn’t expecting it to either.

It is definitely a milder version – a McDonald’s High Street version of Sriracha if you will.

Enjoyable though.

And I found it really worked with the cucumber and onions – definitely close to rivalling the Peri Peri One but just not quite hitting that level of excellence.

Would I have it again?

If I get to McDonald’s before 14/02 AND it is a Wednesday I will be sampling the Spicy Sriracha Chicken One/Wrap one more time.

It’s got me thinking now too.

As this is only available until Tuesday 14th February, does this mean that we will start to see a rotating promotional Big Flavour Wrap? I certainly hope so…

I would also like to see the sauce they use on here available as a promotional dipping sauce one day.

The freshness from the cucumber and lettuce offset nicely against the sharpness of the onion and semi-hot sauce.

Definitely enjoyable as a chaser to your burger/meal of choice and when it is £1.99 it’s a steal.

The Chicken Selects work perfectly on a wrap and it’s safe to say we have seen the back of them as the ingredient on promotional chicken burgers/sandwiches at McDonald’s with the McCrispy.

This should please a lot of you.

The Spicy Sriracha Chicken One is an enjoyable addition to the menu, if only for a limited time and is worth a sample when it is Wrap of the Day on a Wednesday.

As ever, thanks for reading and hope to be back soon. I might do the Double McPlant but I really can’t promise anything.

That’s a wrap.
