McDonald’s Menu Prices

McDonald’s menu doesn’t change too frequently.

Alongside the regular classics such as the Big Mac, Quarter Pounder with Cheese and McChicken Sandwich you will find alternative options such as Big Flavour Wraps, Chicken Selects and Salads.

Sometimes you will see burgers quietly phased out such as the Chicken BLC with others taking their place. This tends to be on the Saver Menu and the most recent addition was the Bacon Double Cheeseburger.

The biggest change to McDonald’s menu in recent times was the introduction of the Signature Collection in late 2005.

As of writing, three burgers are available in the Signature Collection; The Classic, The BBQ and The Spicy.

Various countries around the world offer variations but as of 2019, the UK is yet to see a limited edition Signature Collection Burger.

These are similar to the Maestro Burger range which is found in European countries – see here.

McDonald’s Breakfast is mainly served from 5am until 11:00am and includes staples such as the Sausage & Egg McMuffin alongside newer innovations such as the Breakfast Wrap and Cheesy Bacon Flatbread.

Many McDonald’s fans were upset when the fast food chain discontinued the Big Breakfast in 2016.

McDonald's Prices UK

In recent years, there seems to be a regular pattern for promotional burgers appearing on the menu.

This tends to include the Big Tasty approximately three or four times a year (including during the crazy popular Monopoly LTO).

May/June tends to see Great Tastes of America (as of writing, now in its 13th year).

October/November you will normally get Great Tastes of the World at The Golden Arches which leads into the Festive Menu.

McDonald’s in the UK don’t tend to offer different sides such as Chicken Wings, Potato Wedges or Curly Fries.

They did have BBQ Shaker Fries on the menu during one GTA but that was there one and only appearance. Loaded Fries have never been on-sale in the UK.

What we do get are various deep-fried cheese sides such as Mozzarella Dippers, Monterey Jack Cheese Melts, Spicy Nacho Cheese Wedges and Red Leicester Melts.

McDonald’s Burgers

McDonald’s have had many, many burgers on their menu since we started this website.

Most notably, all the different builds that have featured in the aforementioned Great Tastes ranges.

Originally, these were oval-shaped beef burgers that have since been replaced with two 6:1 patties. You can read more about the sizes of each McDonald’s burgers in the section below.

The Chicken option which runs alongside the beef options has also changed in recent years.

Previously, the chicken LTO featured a Chicken Legend patty but this has since been replaced by two Chicken Selects.

Other burgers that have been on the McDonald’s menu in recent years include the Quarter Pounder Deluxe, the 1955 Burger, The Grand, BBQ Smokehouse and Bacon Clubhouse.

After a 12-year absence, the McRib returned to the UK in January 2015, but as of May 2019 has yet to make a comeback. This is no doubt to generate hype and demand for if and when it does return.

Due to massive sales in 2018, the Grand Big Mac and Mac Jr. were brought back in 2019 and for their return featured bacon.

McDonald’s Burger Sizes

You really have got to be “in the know” for this one and customers will probably be unaware of the different McDonald’s patty sizes available (apart from the obvious Quarter Pounder).

The table below shows that various McDonald’s burgers have different sizes and these refer to the weight.

For example, the 3:1 Big Tasty patty means that for every pound of beef you can make three patties from it.

So the regular beef patty on the Hamburger, Cheeseburger or Big Mac contains 10:1 sized beef patties.

McDonald’s Patty Sizes

SizeMcDonald's Burgers
3:1Big Tasty
4:1Quarter Pounder with Cheese
6:1Great Tastes of America/The World
7:1Grand Big Mac (2), Mac Jr.
10:1Hamburger, Cheeseburger, Double Cheeseburger (2), Big Mac (2)

Why do purchases vary from one McDonalds to another.

Because the shops are franchises and thus not locked into a national price strategy.

I too find the price difference between stores significant. For example the cost of only a milkshake medium and fries between two stores is 40p. That’s excessive

    Dear Sir/Madam,

Every Wednesday we have 2 triple Cheeseburgers & 1 large French Fries. We normally pay £4.38. for 2 triple Cheeseburgers & £1.49 for the French Fries. Total = £5.87. We had the same Burgers & French Fries this week 13/10/2021 and we where charged £4.58 for the Burgers, but French Fries the same at £1.49. When I asked the people serving me they didn’t know anything about the price increase I know it’s still very good value, but has the price gone up. Please can you confirm why the extra charge.

    thank you

    George
