We reported on the 2018 Festive Menu consisting of the Big Tasty (and with Bacon), Millionaire’s Lattè, Cheese Melt Dippers and Maltesers McFlurry.
These will be joined on the menu for the first time in this country by the Chicken Big Tasty – or Big Tasty Chicken (depending on which country you are from).
The chicken version of the ever-popular Big Tasty has been on-sale before in many countries, including France, Germany, Denmark, and Switzerland. It also appears regularly in the Middle East and parts of South America.
This is the first time it will feature on the UK menu AND the first time the burger patty will be replaced by two Chicken Selects – currently the norm for LTOs at McDonald’s.
The Big Tasty has always been a controversial burger – and has both many fans and detractors.
Some say it is on the menu far too often. We believe four times in 2018 including that long stretch between Great Tastes of America and Great Tastes of the World.
Others call for it to be a permanent menu addition.
Recently, McDonald’s changed the sauce recipe and fans have been complaining since.
The Chicken Big Tasty will be available with or without bacon. We are assuming it will be identical to its beef counterpart (except the switch from beef patty to two Selects).
So it seems we have lost World Cup and movie tie-in promotional burgers at McDonald’s – are Festive burgers next…!?
For super-Christmas indulgence, we would have liked to have seen the Double Big Tasty – available in Brazil and Panama.
Or how about Big Tasty Loaded Fries like the ones currently on the menu at McDonald’s Uruguay?

Any word on whether the sauce is the same this time round or back to the better original?
Was almost great then saw it’s using chicken selects… what’s up with mcdonalds and chicken selects? Use an actual chicken burger like in the mcsandwich ffs.
One of the laziest “burgers” McDonald’s has done, just take the Big Tasty & swap out the beef patty for chicken selects, tried it today & wont be having it again, awful. McDonald’s need to buck their ideas up!
Chicken selects? Massive disappointment. Why is it that all other countries get a chicken patty? This is pure laziness from McDonald’s. What happened to their more exciting LTO’s like The ‘M’ burger? Boring, recycled rubbish.
