McDonald’s Triple Cheeseburger is now available at all UK restaurants and has become a permanent addition to the menu.

McDonald's Triple Cheeseburger

Trialled back in February at approximately 60 UK restaurants, this was [sort of] previously on-sale in this country billed as the Hat-Trick.

The Hat-Trick Burger and/or Extra Value Meal was part of a promotional tie-in with the 1994 FIFA World Cup.

Although that build only featured two slices of processed Cheddar Cheese, the Triple Cheeseburger rightly has THREE!

As you can see from the pictures, McDonald’s Triple Cheeseburger isn’t much of a looker, but what do you expect for a £2.19 budget high street burger?

For the money, you will be hard-pressed to find better and fans of the Cheeseburger or Double Cheeseburger can’t possibly not be excited by this latest addition to the Saver Menu.

You know I don’t like ketchup – especially the sugary offering from The Golden Arches. I find it far too sweet and overbearing and it ends up dominating each bite.

That’s why I purchased two – one standard Triple Cheeseburger and another without Ketchup – and there are no prizes for guessing which I enjoyed more!

That ketchup… it’s like Pennywise. There to entice children in… get them hooked on the Cheeseburger and within a few years their addiction will have escalated to the Double and then the Triple and in the process, turning them into a McDonald’s junkie.

McDonald's Triple Cheeseburger

I’m not one to talk. My journey at McDonald’s started on just the simple Cheeseburger and slowly this developed to the Double. And now here we are with the Triple. Triple bypass anyone?

Ignoring my aversion to ketchup, you can’t argue that this is the classic “true taste of McDonald’s” – a slogan you’ve probably read on these pages before.

Now, we’ve got an additional beef patty and another slice of cheese to indulge in. All for the criminally low price of £2.19.

My goodness, they’ll sell millions of the things!

The additional patty (and cheese slice) really makes this an obviously beefier (and cheesier) experience than its Double counterpart.

I can see it being very popular in the UK and it makes complete sense to see it claim a spot on the permanent McDonald’s menu.

As of writing, if you are ordering via the App (and possibly touchscreen) you can also customise the Triple Cheeseburger by adding Bacon, Mayonnaise, Shredded Lettuce, Lettuce, Fresh Onion or Tomato.

Adding bacon will cost you 40p for regular or 80p for extra and the equivalent pricing structure for tomato will set you back 20p or 40p.

Next time, I might try it with no ketchup and add extra bacon. Yes… that will work nicely.

McDonald';s Triple Cheeseburger

The nationwide launch of McDonald’s Triple Cheeseburger (and the Double QP now a menu mainstay) strengthens our prediction that we will see less “specials” (using non-standard ingredients i.e. nacho chips, chorizo, guacamole etc.) and more doubling (or in this case tripling) of existing burgers.

Or… just tweaking them slightly and offering them as a LTO…

It’s a bit of a secret at the moment, but we’re hearing reports of McChicken Sandwich AND Quarter Pounder variations coming soon, possibly from October.

This is not new territory for McDonald’s, as promotions like this have been available before – very recently with the McChicken in Italy, New Zealand and Canada.

Are you glad to have the McDonald’s Triple Cheeseburger on the menu in the UK and are you a fan?

McDonald's Triple Cheeseburger

I’m a fan. I’ve always been a sucker for a Double and now for an additional 70p or whatever it is, I can gorge on a Triple or two. Just don’t expect me to keep that ketchup on it though.

It’s a personal preference and the majority of people will wonder what all the fuss is about or barely notice it is even there.

I found, on my second (the one minus the condiment in question) that I could actually taste the beef, the pickles and the onions and a faint hint of mustard.

Either way, it’s great to see McDonald’s Triple Cheeseburger on the UK menu and (being a McD’s junkie) it most certainly is my first of many.

It’s good to be back!
