McDonald’s Chilli Cheese Bites

McDonald’s Chilli Cheese Bites

McDonald’s Chilli Cheese Bites Review:

Price: £2.29/£5.79.

McDonald’s have launched a new side in the UK called Chilli Cheese Bites.

Looking at the promotional pictures and reading the description, these are the sort of side dish I am looking for… and I was happily surprised with the choice of dip.

Chilli Cheese Pops

I was almost expecting a garlic & herb-type dip to “help cool the bites down” – don’t get me started on that argument!

A rich tomato dip will do… that will do pig.

Chilli Cheese Nuggets

Chilli Cheese Bites are brand new to the UK – in fact, when Secret Sauce told us about them and the new BBQ Big Tasty (THANK YOU!!!), it had been so long since I heard a rumour of them coming, I thought they had been available already.

I’ll let you in on some information though – these have been available in overseas countries before, namely Brunei, Germany, Malta, New Zealand and Sweden.

The CCB have also been known as the following:

Chilli Cheese Nuggets
Chilli Cheese Snackers
Chilli Cheese Pops
Chili Cheese Tops (yes only one ‘l’)

McDonald's

So how were they BL I hear you ask?

I am going on record right now and saying this could be my favourite cheese-based side from McDonald’s.

They are a LOT of fun if this is what you are into, but at £2.29 for only four, I felt a little short-changed.

I would definitely have the Chilli Cheese Bites again and upgrade to a Sharebox at £5.79. No arguments from me!

Chilli Cheese Bites

The more I think about it, these are definitely my new favourite side at The Golden Arches.

You get a lovely, creamy cheesiness which is complimented perfectly by the small spicy green pieces of jall-a-penn-o inside (see Trailer Park Boys).

Don’t expect Naga heat levels… they just work really well and are the perfect accompaniment to your meal of choice.

And that batter… such a good texture… not as stodgy as other “breaded” cheese sides… they look good and it’s quite delicate.

(The batter) sort of reminded me of something you would get in Asian cooking.

Chilli Cheese Bites

LOVE THAT JOKER… LOVE THAT BATTER – if you’re a fan of cheesy McDonald’s sides then you are going to be ALL OVER THIS ONE.

I tried them with and without the rich tomato dip and they don’t really need it IMO… but it’s nice to have the option.

I would alternate between sauce and no sauce if and when I do get the Sharebox.

Come on BL… you know you will.

Chilli Cheese Bites

Overall, a good, albeit expensive side – based on my calculations and the prices at the restaurant we were at today, if you go with the 4-piece option it will set you back 57p per Bite vs. 48p per Bite if opting for the 12-piece option.

THAT IS A SAVING OF 9P PER BITE DAMMIT!!!

When I have the Sharebox next time and that will probably be before our next podcast episode on 20/03 I WILL NOT be sharing!

They’re just too good to share!

Give them a go… I have no complaints other than the fact I wanted more. MORE!!!!

I apologise for the shortness of the review – maybe I expended too much energy with the BBQ Big Tasty review.

It’s a tough life living in the Fast Food Lane!

And remember… it’s a great time to be… in The Empire.

Thanks for reading everyone – back soon!

Burger King do these too, equally as nice much better on price (9 for £3 I think, 20 for under £6), when I go there they’re a big reason for it- really nice. Mcd have really declared war combining this and the Big Tasty together.

I want these as a side only the price is way too expensive when something close comes at in 10 for £1 at Tesco.
