Having been for a weekend away in Capernwray we stumbled upon a Grill Restaurant at The Slyne Lodge. It had just launched a new menu, promising to be a unique experience every time.

The new burger menu at Slyne Lodge…

The restaurant had recently been refurbished and as a result they had decided to launch a new Grill Menu.

The concept was as follows: choose a main, then 3 sides from a choice of over 20, and a sauce.

Obviously I headed straight for the burger section to see what was on offer.

I ordered The Smokehouse with spicy fries, onion rings and breaded mushrooms and Jim Beam BBQ Sauce.

When the food arrived my attention was instantly grabbed by the size of the portion, it was huge!

A large portion…

I headed straight for the burger and I wasn’t disappointed, the burger itself was a hand-made rump steak burger which was perfectly cooked, juicy and full of flavour. The BBQ pulled pork and smoked bacon worked well and complemented the burger perfectly, both again were cooked to perfection!

Lifting the lid at the Lodge…

The spicy fries had a nice kick to them and the mushrooms were good as well, however the onion rings were slightly over cooked.

The BBQ sauce was homemade and is one of my favourites to date, it had a great flavour and was made using fresh tomato pieces as the base.

Inside The Smokehouse…

All in all the meal was a pleasant surprise and one of the best burgers I’ve had this month.

The staff at the restaurant were fantastic and service was great, considering they were only a few days into the new menu.
