It is with great pleasure Burger Lad® presents a very special guest review by none other than Miss Milkshake.
When I saw Real Burger tweet about their strictly-off-the-menu-but-yours-if-you-ask-for-it PB&J burger, I knew I couldn’t pass this up, and I didn’t have to do too much twisting to Burger Lad®’s beefy arm to convince him to call into Real Burger for lunch.
That’s right, folks. Peanut butter and strawberry jam, on a burger.
The burger costs peanuts compared to the unrivalled quality of the beef; in fact I could easily see this delicious number served up in a gourmet burger joint for double the price and not being the least surprised.
I won’t go on about the beefy brilliance though, because words cannot do it justice.
However, if you’re not brave enough to call on your inner-American and try this PB&J burger yourself, then at least give one of their more standard options a go just to see for yourself how special they really are.
True to form (I am Miss Milkshake after all) I had to wash this down with something equally as yummy, so I popped next door for a milkshake from my favourite milkshake shack: Shakes2Go.
They’ll mix up anything in here, so I chose peanut butter (naturally), strawberry sauce, and strawberry-flavoured popping candy.
If I’m going to take on a Peanut Butter and Jam mission then I may as well go all-out.
Incidentally, I highly recommend ordering a shake with your burger. The burgers are cooked fresh, so you’ll have ten or fifteen minutes to kill, and the friendly atmosphere in both establishments mean there’s no harm done in crossing territories with next doors’ fares.

Back to business: It’s Peanut Butter Jelly Time!
The Peanut Butter and Jam burger also boasts bacon, hot sauce, and the standard-issue lettuce, tomato and red onion.
It would have had mayo on it too, but I loathe that stuff more than Crocs and decaffeinated coffee put together, so, as usual, I tweaked the regular version to suit my tastes.
In my opinion, a burger joint scores extra points if I can do this with no fuss, and Real Burger certainly scores highly in this area.
Since everything is freshly prepared there’s no harm in creating what you want; in fact the PB&J burger came about from a customer suggestion!
Like I said before, this isn’t on the Real burger menu, but if you’d like to try one just call in and ask, and they’ll happily make one up for you.

The hot sauce works incredibly well with the other flavours, and perfectly balances out the creamy peanut buttery goodness and the sweet sensation of the strawberry jam.
This is obviously a very well-thought out burger, and not just a bonkers creation put out there as a challenge – i.e. the Marmite milkshake at Shakes2Go. Never again… *shudder*
For a true taste of Americana I probably would’ve preferred to see crispier, streaky bacon atop this Peanut Butter and Jelly phenomenon, but overall it worked so well, and I felt like Elvis tucking into this king of a burger.
