McDonald’s Fajita Chicken One

McDonald’s Fajita Chicken One Review

Fajita Chicken One:

What they say:

Crispy chicken breast strips with a Mexican salsa, Pepper Jack cheese, red onions, jalapeño slices and lettuce in a soft, toasted tortilla wrap. Wrap of the day every Friday!

Price: £2.99/£4.59/£4.99 or £1.99 on Friday.

Calories: 479/345 kcal.

There is a new Big Flavour Wrap in town and his/her name is The Fajita Chicken One (available in crispy or grilled options).

It seems whichever “hot” version of the Wrap of the Day can’t seem to settle on the menu. I can’t decide if that is down to poor sales, negative customer feedback or McDonald’s wanting to freshen it up now and then.

Probably a combination of all three.

McDonald's Wraps 2020

The latest wrap to be added on a Friday (after the Hot Peri Peri, Fiery Buffalo and Hot Cajun) actually sounds like it could be the best.

There is no stand-out new ingredient (apart from the obvious Mexican salsa) – more a re-jig of components that have already featured in the aforementioned list above.

And of course two Chicken Selects – great on a wrap. Not as great as a burger.

The Hot Cajun Chicken One has basically swapped its sauce for salsa and fresh tomato for red onion. I already prefer the sound of the new one and I’ve not even sampled it yet!

Until now…

Fajita Chicken One

The Fajita Chicken One is now my new (current) favourite Big Flavour Wrap and really gives my all-time champion a run for its money.

This salsa isn’t hot – it’s actually ideal as it helps contribute to an overall balance of crispy textures, fresh ingredients and a slight spice from the jalapeño slices.

It’s got a fruity, slightly tomato-based flavour you would expect from a salsa and is the unifying taste of this latest wrap.

Please do not go into this expecting a hot or fiery experience – this is not spicy… but it is tasty!

Wraps are possibly the least photogenic of anything on the McDonald’s menu and opening up the soft, toasted tortilla displays a respectable amount of ingredients for under two pounds.

I would probably only ever get this on a Friday though.

Fajita Chicken One

You get the contrast of crispy chicken and soft cheese which are accompanied by a sharp and crunchy tang from the red onion and the welcome warmth of the spicy peppers.

In short, this is your ideal chicken chaser to go with your regular order. I will be having this one again and that is a certainty.

The Fajita Chicken One is not innovative. It doesn’t offer anything particularly new or exciting. What it does give you is a respectable chicken wrap with a slight taste of Mexican cuisine (McD’s style) for a decent price.

You can’t argue with the standard and again Chicken Selects work so much better on/as a wrap and not as a burger.

I’ve eaten in Burger King, McDonald’s and KFC in the last week and I have to say that the customer experience at The Golden Arches is still miles ahead of the competition and today was no exception.

App ordering, table service, clean tables/floors, plenty of staff and reasonably priced and quality food is why this fast food giant remains so popular in this country.

Fajita Chicken One

Heading into this review, I knew I would be favourable towards The Fajita Chicken One. It’s the sort of ingredient combination I would do myself at home before proclaiming it to be “the real Wrap of the Day.”

And this ladies and gentleman is your new champion.

It doesn’t quite match the brilliance of the Hot Peri Peri One nor is it as fierce as the Fiery Buffalo One, but it is a solid entry to the Big Flavour Wrap family and I hope to see it on the menu longer than some of its predecessors.

At £1.99 on a Friday, this is a real bargain and the perfect chaser to your favourite Big Mac, Big Tasty or Quarter Pounder meal (or whatever it is you are having?!).

It is a pity that they don’t have the jalapeños and other special ingredients as add ons for other menu items.

Agree, it’s a good one to replace the original peri peri one (which was my favourite). I found the fajita one quite spicy, would still get it again as a wrap of the day for £1.99.

Can’t believe you think it’s not hot, as it really is!! I couldn’t finish it, it was that spicy and I’ve had stomach cramps three hours later from it.
I thought it’d be similar spice level to the Jamaican chicken but it was hotter than that.
