McDonald’s Double BBQ Quarter Pounder with Cheese

McDonald’s Double BBQ Quarter Pounder with Cheese Review:

Price: £4.59/£5.89/£6.29.

Calories: 753 kcal.

I’m back!!

I apologise for the delay of my review of the new McDonald’s Double BBQ Quarter Pounder with Cheese.

It’s been a very tough time recently and I genuinely cannot thank you all enough for the kindness you have shown me.

I am now feeling stronger and the path to healing my mental and physical health is well under way so I hope to return again with future reviews.

Ironic then that I am sampling a burger weighing in at 753 calories – everyone has to have a treat now and then though right!?

I’ll have to up my daily step count tomorrow!

I’m going to keep this analysis brief just while I continue my rehabilitation and I imagine you fabulous readers will have already sampled this.

The Double BBQ Quarter Pounder is possibly the 3rd (?) QP variation we’ve had in the UK after the Deluxe and Spicy? Let us know if I am wrong!

It’s not quite like the Western BBQ QP which was available in Canada recently – that build featured bacon and crispy onions.

Instead, the UK version basically just swaps out mustard and tomato ketchup and replaces those with a “Smoky BBQ Sauce” – I’ll take that swap!

Obviously the Double QPC BBQ is also available as a single option (£1 cheaper) but unlike my Spicy review, I waded in straight with the double.

Customisation options? You can’t even add bloody bacon!

No, with the Double BBQ Quarter Pounder you can only remove ingredients but not add. That’s on the app/touchscreen obviously, not asking in person… so maybe they might if you ask nicely.

I enjoyed the Double BBQ QP – dare say the combination of the Smoky BBQ Sauce (which I am a fan of despite the sticky hands) reminded me of the McRib?

Sorry if I stole that off someone on social media.

That combination of the sauce, pickles and fresh onion just triggered a memory of having 6 McRibs in one day back at Head Office – oh those were the days…

Is it up there with the Spicy QP? Maybe… probably just not quite but an enjoyable LTO all the same.

I do wonder if we work through variations of the Quarter Pounder with Cheese, could the Big Tasty get some additional toppings in the future?

I’m looking at you Jalapeños… they’ve featured on a Big Tasty overseas and we know McDonald’s UK have access to them (Signature Spicy) so that would be interesting to sample.

Again, I apologise for the lateness of this review and that it is so short…. and quite frankly shit. I’m not really discussing the burger much am I?

My daughter and I both enjoyed it (despite a very long wait – McDelivery seemed to take priority and we were left waiting approx. 20 mins for our food and I had to ask where it was).

A sad end to a glittering career and what in my opinion, helped change the way in which UK fast food chains marketed and released information regarding their upcoming promotional items.

If you are reading this, I would like to thank everyone that has been a supporter of this website I set up “for a laugh” back in 2012.

That smile has faded recently. I might be back… I might not be. Only time will tell. Take care of yourselves.

P.S. A MASSIVE thank you to Secret Sauce, who at the 11th hour, has messaged me to confirm the next promo starting 6th October…
