Firstly, this isn’t a full review. Burger Lad® already reviewed the Bacon Swiss Melt last year here. This is a sort of 2014 update.

Secondly, in the words of Obi-Wan, this isn’t the McDonald’s limited time offer you’re looking for (that one will arrive next year).

So, with that in mind, I found myself at the nearest Arches with a bit of hunger and I did like the look of the Bacon Swiss Melt.

Bacon Swiss Melt Promotional Box…

Three things I had in mind, from Burger Lad®’s review. It’ll be dry, there won’t be any serviettes, and there won’t be enough crispy onions.

So, when I unpacked it, I was pleasantly surprised to find three serviettes. It turned out to be quite a messy affair so I was glad of those.

Before tucking in, I got some photos to share with you, including the lifting-the-lid shot that Burger Lad® forgot last time!

Biting in, I found the sauce to be well spread out so it wasn’t dry either. However, the third of my concerns proved correct – not enough crispy onions.

The bacon was not as lean as I would like, just like the earlier review, but the cheese was lovely. It was definitely melty and, together with the sauce, made the whole thing tasty and moist.

The “real” McDonald’s Bacon Swiss Melt…

It’s quite big too. Definitely felt quite full afterwards. I’ll leave it there because you can read the full review here.

Though it has similar ingredients, the Baconswiss is nothing on "The Prime", served only in Switzerland and officially (as far as I can tell) the highest calorie burger MD's sell in Europe. There's no excuse for not shipping the real thing over here.

Thanks. I mentioned The Prime to the UK MD and judges during my pitch at the McDonald's My Burger finals.
