KFC Dirty Louisiana Burger

Review of KFC Dirty Louisiana Burger

What they say:

Our brand new Dirty Louisiana is generously packed with Supercharger sauce, tangy gherkins, tasty cheese, hash brown, smoky BBQ sauce, black pepper mayo, lettuce – and a lip-smacking Original Recipe Chicken fillet – all sandwiched in a grill marked bun.

Price: £4.19 for the burger only. £6.39 as a Box Meal.

Calories: Box Meal listed at 1,370 kcal.

If you have been reading BURGER LAD® since October, you will have known that the Dirty Louisiana Burger had been tested at two locations in Surrey.

Now, on Monday 27th February, the latest LTO at KFC has seen a full UK-wide release. And believe me it is a good burger!

KFC Dirty Louisiana Burger

Firstly, the box. It’s HUGE and reminds me of the size of the promo box we got for last years’ Original Recipe Stacker.

It seems KFC want to give the consumer what it wants… big, dirty burgers… and the Dirty Louisiana is certainly dirty!! (as opposed to Figgy Poppleton-Rice’s #Cleaneating Burger).

Next up is the bun. Now I swear in the distant past we’ve seen at least one KFC burger with these grill-marks singed into the bread, but it escapes me now. Leave a comment if you can remember!

The burger comes presented in an additional layer of wrap to keep that dirtiness inside. It was fairly late and quiet when we popped into the town centre KFC but I wasn’t prepared for just how good this is.

As you can see from the pictures, the build is actually quite stunning looking. I know for a fact, that the promotional imagery is intended to look more like what the consumer actually receives, and this isn’t far off.

You’ve got the cheese and sauce literally oozing down the side of the hash brown and Original Recipe Chicken Fillet. Whoever put this one together in the back, should be proud this evening.

Aesthetically it looks the part. I think the Deluxe BBQ sauce needed to be placed in-between the chicken and potato which were also the wrong way round but that’s about the only negative with this particular build.

You’ve obviously got that tried and tested partnership of the white chicken breast fillet and hash brown. A slight crunch to the exterior which gives way to a soft interior.

The predominant flavour/sensation comes from that hot sauce. Not too dissimilar to the Supercharger sauce (if it is the same it’s definitely got more poke to it).

KFC Dirty Louisiana Burger

For a High Street LTO this is quite spicy. And that heat stays with you all the way through the Dirty Louisiana.

I like it. I actually like it a hell of a lot.

It’s messy, the combination of sauces works well despite my initial reservations of a sauce overload.

And just when you’re nodding to yourself going “yeah this is good” you get a new KFC experience from the slightly sweet, pickled gherkin slices… a generous amount on-board too!

Thinly sliced, they cut through all the other components to hit your palate. I would love to see these feature again on other promotional items.

KFC Dirty Louisiana Burger

The Dirty Louisiana Burger is only available for four weeks (I’m loving these new shorter limited time windows) and is in my opinion, one of the best KFC burgers ever.

It’s a big burger and you shouldn’t go away feeling unsatisfied, especially if having as part of a Box Meal.

You’ve got the reliable tag-team of Original Recipe Chicken Fillet and hash brown, which is complimented nicely with a dirty array of sauces.

Those semi-sweet pickles and the soft, griddled bun makes the Dirty Louisiana one of my all-time Kentucky Fried Chicken favourites.

BREAKING:

KFC are testing the Dirty Louisiana Burger as part of a box meal.

An anonymous tip-off from a Twitter user revealed this information with the accompanying picture recently.

Yesterday, I visited KFC and spoke to development/innovation and they confirmed that the Dirty Louisiana Box Meal is in fact being tested.

Only two restaurants in the entire UK are trialling the meal – Camberley and Cobham which are both in the county of Surrey.

The Dirty Louisiana Burger consists of the following ingredients:

Original recipe chicken fillet, hash brown, cheese, lettuce, pickles, black pepper mayo, hot (or dirty) sauce and deluxe BBQ sauce.

We would like to point out that the Dirty Louisiana Burger is very much in the test stages so might not even see a UK-wide release in the future. And if it does come to market, the build may change significantly.

In the meantime, if you want to try this new burger in its test phases, you will have to seek it out in one of the two towns mentioned above.

Will you be trying it? Have you already tried it? Pickles are fairly uncommon on a KFC burger in the UK so what are your thoughts on that?

Let us know your thoughts on the Dirty Louisiana Burger via the usual BURGER LAD® channels.

Thank you again to our anonymous tipster and KFC for the confirmation of the testing.

As and when we get more information we’ll update this post accordingly.

Just did the “yourkfc” thing for a restaurant in Paisley and the last question was “Did you order the Louisiana Dirty?”

I’d never even heard of it. If they had it, I didn’t see it on the menu boards. Is it generally available, or being tested in wider areas? If it is, they need to be doing a better job of letting people know they have it in stock!

Usually the online survey will ask questions based on American released food (currently on promotion in America)

Made the burger in today`s KFC shift/promotion/training, but since being after my break did not eat it-I hope a colleague tucked in and enjoyed my precisely made burger and it did not end up in the bin 🙂

Asked for No Gerkins and halfway through my burger I hit a gerkin, brought it up to the till and got a fresh one, no gerkins, for free! Free three quarters of a burger.

If you had the receipt stating “no pickles/gherkins” than you will get the burger. However, in some “bigger cases” of complaints CCTV can be assessed if somebody gives false claims.

KFC need to make the Stacker a permanent menu item everyone was loving 2 zinger fillets in a bun for £4-£5 this is just a tower burger with supercharger sauce tbh. The three main things ive heard people say they want in the U.K Kfc’s are the Double-Down, Extra Crispy chicken option and Mashed Potatoes

Agree with all of those. I really want to see more new chicken options at KFC, these burgers are cool but it’s not their core product and most of them are just lazily adding a different sauce to an existing burger. US KFC isn’t as good quality but I’d love to see extra crispy chicken (who remembers crispy strips?) and their new hot chicken make their way over here along with limited edition spice blends and coatings (those zinger fillets were a good start even though I was disappointed when I had them). And I’d be happy if they replaced their awful fries with mashed potato or at least gave people the option.

Yup, it ended today (sold our last 2 Louisiana burger buns around 4 PM) at my KFC. Took it off the TV`s, no posters. Gone… But it was a great burger 🙂

Had this today, completely underwhelmed. Very bland just like everything from KFC that isn’t Zinger.

I tried this for the first time today, after all the hype and that amazing picture. I must say it was disappointing. It was loaded with too many and too much sauce(s). I couldn’t tell if it was supposed to be spicy, BBQ, sweet, creamy or smokey. They all slopped together, making a soggy bun. Which I must also say had fake char grilled lines on it, bizarre! The hash brown and cheese felt like they gatecrashed the party too lol. I’ll always go back to KFC, but had to comment as this was such an anticlimax. Keep up the good work Burgerlad!
